Real Wood Floors & Walls by Brandy Goldenberg Photography a West Des Moines Photography Studio

I'm not sure why I hadn't tackle this little project before now. I've thought about it for awhile, and I knew it would add great dimension to my art. But you know how it is ... kids, family, work ... and before long the days fly by. BUT I FINALLY DID IT ...

{ gray floor with a reverse weathered blue for newborn down shots }

I completed the double-sided wood planks for the newborn studio about two weeks ago. I started with the newborn suite because it is a smaller space only for newborns - I could use smaller boards. This was a good 'lessons learned' project.

The first lesson learned was to buy an electric sander. Hand sanding killed my wrists!

One side was stained three layers with espresso and walnut shades. The other side was primed and painted a white/cream color. I decided to not distress them. My editing style already adds a layer of distress to an image and over time as the boards are moved around and walked out they will naturally distress.

{ 6' long boards for big studio wall and floor}

For those keeping track this little project took me about 2 weeks and around $350 to complete {plus a $50 electric sander}. The newborn suite has 12" by 4' boards x 10 boards {five for floor and five for wall plus the 4 extra 36" boards}. The big studio suite has a mixture of 10" and 12" wide by 6' long boards {eight for the floor and eight for the wall}.
