Every baby is unique and has their own special personality. It is one of my favorite elements of a newborn session - learning what the squishy new life in front of me enjoys {and doesn't enjoy}.
Nora Jo fit in my hand - dainty and beautiful. She was an all-star smiler too {mostly when the camera was down}!
About a month ago I enjoyed a workshop with the very talented Bethney Backhaus, based in Florida. Her style of newborn portraiture is very clean and natural. She uses the phrasing, natural posing. While you create a comfortable spot for baby, providing support in all the right places - it allows baby to relax and stretch and position their body in a way that is natural and comfortable for them.
While I am not interested in changing the over-all style of my portraiture with the 'less less less is more' styling, I have greatly embraced adding these natural poses to the gallery.
In your mind you think you'll remember how their little faces squished up, how their tiny hands relaxed or clenched while they slept, or how they looked when they spread their arms up above their heads ... but time passes and our memory fades. Best reason for professional portraits :-)

Newborn sessions are typically reserved by the 6th-7th month of pregnancy to ensure availability. Every session is thoughtfully planned and we only photograph one newborn a day - thus space is limited by month/due date.
After a spot is reserved with due date, we photograph baby within 20 days of their birth.
Below is a slideshow of images from Nora Jo's Gallery - it might take a moment for it to appear.
