2018 Christmas Event with Santa

The Annual Christmas Event
hosted by brandy goldenberg photography

Saturday November 10th
(must have a time slot in order to attend)

I am so excited to announce this year's Magical Santa Event!

It is storybook in feel ... old world ... moonlite and twinkle lights ... perfect for snuggling up with Santa to read a story in PJs, chomp on cookies, or bring out some of the workshop toys while dressed in Christmas best!

For those who have not participated in this event in the past ... forget all about the line at the mall ... the screaming/crying kids .... and overpriced poor quality prints.

Each family is given their own time slot (and we ask that each family respect their own time slot so that everyone has a magical experience).

We keep stimulation to a minimum (no loud HO HO HOing Santa unless the child is excited to engage with Santa).

We are highly successful at creating a magical image of child and Santa (if your child becomes upset at the sight of Santa we will ask Santa to leave and check on the reindeer, later in post-processing of the images we will create a final portrait that makes it appear as though your child and Santa had a magical time together).

Santa will be engaging but not over-stimulating. He will have bells and neutral toys to help shy children. At the end of the meeting Santa will give each child a gift.

Our Santa is a professional. He is background checked and has even been accepted in previous years to spend four months of the year as Santa in NYC!

Session fee is reduced from $145 to $50 for this magical event. We have 6 total spots available for this event!

Packages

The $50 session fee will be invoiced to hold your timeslot. One week before the event an invoice will be sent out for your package. We typically have a waiting list for this event - any invoices not paid within 24 hours will be cancelled and the time slot offered to the first family on the waiting list.

Golden Package ($695): This package includes 10 digital files. We will capture images with our Magical Set with and without Santa, individual and/or sibling-together poses, and a variety of scenes (reading a book, playing with toys, etc) depending on the number of children. The fewer the children for this package the more dynamic our poses are. This package is available to all but required for 3 or more siblings.

Merry Package ($495): This package includes 5 digital files. It is ideal for one or two siblings. We will capture images with our Magical Set with and without Santa, and a variety of individual and/or sibling-together poses depending on the number of children. If you want more poses with santa then upgrade to Golden Package.

New Location: MainFrame Studios | 900 Keo Way, Studio 415 | DSM

Brandy Goldenberg Photography
at MainFrame Studios
900 Keo Way, Studio 415
Des Moines, Iowa

It has been very quiet from BGP over the past few months but not from lack of being busy!

The Governor Square studio location was a great place for Brandy Goldenberg Photography to spread its wings over the past three years. I've photographed hundreds of new souls and growing babies/families at this location. I thank each and every one of you for supporting, encouraging and honoring me by choosing BGP.

In January, I made the decision to not renew the lease at Governor Square and instead seek a new location. I found an amazing opportunity at MainFrame Studios (originally called Des Moines Arts). The building, off Keo, offers 154,000 square feet with over 150 artists sharing the building. Artists range from professional photographers, glass blowers, painters, musicians, jewelry artists, clothing artists, the culinary arts, and so many more.

I will tentatively start accepting Design Consultations again in August with sessions to follow.

I have dozens of sessions that I haven't posted on social media from the past few months, so expect to see images rolling in your newsfeeds shortly. Until then I am enjoying the summer with my 8 and 4 year old (which some how sounded much more relaxing when I originally planned the summer off ha).

Goodbye Governor Square! Even though I am really excited for this next chapter - I have to admit it was very bitter-sweet to see the sign come down.

Assistant Position Available at BGP

Assistant Position

We are looking to add to the crew here at Brandy Goldenberg Photography! This person will begin as a Newborn Assistant so that they can understand the primary function, philosophy and services that BGP provides. Ultimately this assistant  will also manage social media postings for BGP {instagram, blog, fb, twitter, etc} and client orders/packaging.

Availability: an individual that consistently has at least a couple of mornings each week available between 9-1 is sought. They will not usually be the same number of days each week. The hours are not consistent each week. Weeks may be skipped. Due to the flexibility of the days and inconsistent hours, this role has worked well in the past for stay-at-home-moms after kids are off to school or for the college student that has a couple of mornings available.

Pay: $15/hr or $45 for the session {which ever amount is greater for the session}. Once a solid working relationship has been established social media hours may be added with consistent weekly rate.

General: a successful assistant has good communication skills, is reliable, is responsible, has reliable transportation, has successful work history that includes being on time and not routinely cancelling, is detail oriented, is very knowledgeable/experienced using various social media platforms, has professional writing ability, and can pass a background check.  Training is provided. There is no 'uniform' but outside clothing must always be clean, no cigarette smoke.

Job Hazards: Baby bodily fluids :-)

Please do not apply if you own a photography business, charge for photography services, are seeking mentoring or photography training. Please do not apply if you are seeking a trade for portraits - this position pays for the hours worked and any services you would like to contract BGP for would be a separate transaction.

Where in the World is BGP ...

Okay in my head that sounded cooler ... like ... Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego ... no?! Ok.

Well then here is a cute baby for you ... better?! Good!

No matter your industry the best way to maintain success and to grow within your profession is through on-going education. Photography is no different. I invest a lot each year in continuing education and mentoring. Your photographer should be well invested and educated in their profession - otherwise, why you want to work with them?

I'll be in Atlanta for a week at the USA Baby Summit. About 700 newborn photographers from all over the world will be flocking to ATL for a few days of education, mentoring, and "tog" fun.

Some of the best educators in my industry will be hosting education, safety, editing, and business classes, and of course what would a convention be without loot. Many of the photography industry's top baby vendors will be showing off their beautiful baby goods and props. I'll be traveling with an empty suitcase just for this reason!

When the Summit is over I'll be sticking around Atlanta for a couple extra days for some mentoring with one of my favorite newborn photographers and educators, Luisa Dunn. Luisa is an award winning Brisbane, Australia newborn and family photographer ... and this is the ONLY small group workshop she is hosting this year - so excited to attend!

Have a Great Week!

You Should Meet Your Photographer FIRST | Des Moines Newborn Photography

Over the years I have discovered that the best photoshoots are the ones in which clients and I have a comfortable working relationship.

We are familiar with each other and the session has a clear focus and direction.

I haven't always insisted on meeting clients prior to our portrait experience together - most clients based on word of mouth reviews or faith simply book me without meeting. I haven't always insisted on clients coming into the studio to see the final portraits in person either.

I think failing to do both does a great disservice to both client and photographer.

... WHY would anyone commission, pay for, a portrait session without first meeting the Photographer?

Think about that for a moment.

Before you reserve a portrait session wouldn't you want to meet the photographer - make sure their style of work really is what you are seeking - make sure their personality will be right for your family?

Before you entrust the safety of your newborn and the once in a lifetime capture of their portrait wouldn't you want to see for yourself that the photographer had a safe studio, a legal business status, and displayed confidence and competence in their work and art?

I would too!

I'm proud that Brandy Goldenberg Photography is one of a handful of studios in the local market that provides a full service portrait experience in a professional studio with a legal business structure.

And all of our clients now experience three parts to their session: Design Consultation, Session, and Reveal.

All portrait sessions include a complimentary Design Consultation.

It won't take much of your time but it will provide us the opportunity to meet, design your portrait session together, and allows you to see and touch our artwork in person. All before you invest.

Please Touch! Please open our albums, touch our wall art, and truly see the difference between a professional and a hobbyist/amateur photographer.

If you decide to commission a portrait experience with Brandy Goldenberg Photography then your session will be designed and we will be ready to carry out the vision on your reserved portrait day.

A couple of weeks after your portrait session you'll come to the studio and relax in front of our big screen. Portraits will be displayed for you and we will then select your favorites and how they will be displayed: album, wall art and digitals. If you don't love a photo - you don't have to buy it.

I hope to meet you soon!

Mr. Porter | West Des Moines Newborn Photography

I'm notoriously bad at blogging sessions but I thought before I archive Mr. Porter's gallery I would post a few more of his sweet little face

I first met Porter's mama, daddy and sister at a { pregnancy session }

It isn't often that a 3 year old sibling is as calm as Porter's Big Sis. She was awesome!

When Porter arrived at the studio he was perfectly sweet, curly and awake! Sometimes that happens - we just roll with it. As I always say, Baby is boss!

Even though baby is boss ... I usually win with heat, rocking, and white noise.

I'm pretty in love with Porter in a baby suit!

I love babies that sleep a whole session but it is heart melting when they do look at you with their inquisitive big eyes

Little boys and football ...
