At Caleb's newborn portrait session we captured a little of everything: parent and baby images, simple detailed captures and Fine Art.
But first, it began by capturing him while still in his mama's womb.
For Jill's pregnancy session our goal was to capture the beauty of her pregnancy as a gift for her husband.
No matter a client's comfort level - whether a tasteful full bump or fabric covered bump - we do everything possible at Brandy Goldenberg Photography to show your beauty and strength during your pregnancy. We have no desire to change who you are or how you look but we can strategically pose and use post processing tools to help smooth skin and reduce areas of any concern to you.
All pregnancy sessions are fully styled from our collection of maternity posing gowns, fabrics and accessories. Click here to view more information about Pregnancy Sessions.
Once baby arrives things can get a little busy. But when there is a moment to breathe, a client with a reserved session will send us a message or call letting us know baby has arrived.
We then review our calendar and coordinate with our assistants for a photographing date within 20 days of baby's birth.
I always encourage capturing at least one image of parents with their new baby. I understand that most of the time you are tired and just don't have the desire to be photographed.
The one thing I regret from my son's newborn portrait session, six years ago, is that I begged out of the photographer capturing me with my new babe. I was tired. I didn't feel like myself. I miss having that image - even if it wouldn't have been one I put on the wall. So I apologize if I come off a little pushy if I ask multiples times if you are SURE you don't want even a simple capture?
I will help mama's if they desire - smooth skin, lighten under eyes, put a little color on your face even. Though black and white images are flattering for everyone.

I will also add that I ask parents to bring an extra set of clothing for themselves {and one dad could have used an extra set of socks and shoes at a previous session}. Naked babies are notorious for waiting until their diaper is removed to relieve themselves ;-)
Once parent poses {and sibling poses if applicable} are captured my assistant and I move forward with our focus on baby. Our newborn studio is a small room that we have heated to 90 degrees. It contains all of the bonnets, hats, outfits, fabrics, wraps and accessories needed for the session.
As I do with most, we began Caleb's session with the Nighty Night pose. Sleepy and awake babies alike enjoy this pose.

Caleb had a perfect soft shade of pink skin tone and seriously is a little handsome cutie!
Caleb's nursery has a nautical feel to it. In our own artistic way we fed off that theme with a dramatic Fine Art image on a wood bed, a little lantern and cap.
Gone Fishin {and nappin}
We finished Caleb's session with a basket pose. Sometimes it is the most seemingly easy poses that end up taking the longest to prepare for a shot. I often say, posing a newborn is like making a Thanksgiving feast. It takes a long time to make it but then everyone is done eating in 10 minutes. It can take us 20-30 minutes sometimes, between set-up and calming baby into a pose, before we actually capture the image.
