New Blog!

After switching websites in January it has taken me a bit to get a new blog up {I love the design}!

On the left you will see a few icons that allow you to email me, find me on google+, like me on facebook and follow me on pinterest. 
Lots of ways for you to stay in contact with BGP in 2014 {and more places for this one-woman-show to post updates ha}!

First, Facebook. Facebook is great for staying in touch with family and friends. Facebook used to be great for businesses connecting with clients. Over the past year facebook has made many changes to how business pages function and how you connect with them.

BGP has over 2,000 fans {most of which are from Central Iowa - so legit fans}, most posts and images that BGP posts only receive 200 or less views {fb has a tool that allows businesses to see how many people view a post}.

Facebook stopped showing posts of pages YOU like in your newsfeed consistently. Facebook decides which people get to see my posts and which ones don't. Facebook also decided that they could implement a 'charge' feature - so if I pay money then MAYBE you will get to see my post. 

Now, one would think that if YOU like my page that means you want to see all posts from me. But Facebook doesn't think you really want that.

If you like or comment on a BGP post you are more likely to see more of my posts. If you don't like or comment on posts then Facebook will remove you from my page. They think that is what you want.

I know how easy it is to just see posts in your newsfeed, have a mental thought about that post, and scroll by without liking or commenting. But ... if you continue to do that with pages you have liked - you will stop seeing posts from that page and eventually, Facebook will just remove you from the page.

SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - just click LIKE on posts or comment from time to time :-) It allows you to see when BGP is having special pricing on products, special session pricing and maybe even seeing images of your own family posted! 

Pinterest. Want to see collections of family outfits to help you plan out a scheme for your own family's portrait outfits? I have a whole board dedicated to outfits and color schemes. Want to see what types of outfits BGP prefers to photograph - ones that will deliver classic and timeliness images? I have a whole board dedicated to little girl and little boy outfits - most of which come with a link to the store where you can buy them.

I plan to add a backdrop board that will display all of the backdrops that BGP has in collection - this way you can help select one for your session in combination with the creative sets I put together. I also plan to add a board of all the children's and maternity outfits I have in collection that clients can select from and use. 


Google+. Many photographers and vendors that supply photographers props are moving to Google+ from facebook. Why? Simply because we want to see all of the posts and images that those we 'like' or 'follow' post without having to pay for a MAYBE viewing.

Google+ also provides a larger display section for photos and so far people think the quality of those images displayed is higher.

So from time to time BGP will post GOOGLE + SPECIALS ONLY. If you follow me on Google + then you will get to see those specials :-)
